“The love of gardening is a seed once sown that never dies.” – Gertrude Jekyll

Welcome to Biodiverse Wellness Gardens and thank you for taking your valued time to find out what it’s all about!

Question. Have you ever walked through a park or a garden and felt relaxed and supported as you stopped to gaze upon a sun beam reflecting on a tree limb, or entranced by the magic of a flower, or soothed by the sound of a songbird while taking in the smell of the air? This is an ancient connection that we as humans still feel to the natural world whether it is in a forest, park or garden.

This human-nature wellness connection inspired creating this website with its aim to connect people to the living wellness that nature provides by bridging the value that gardens offer to support and regenerate human well being and the biological diversity of life on earth (biodiversity).

Small actions can manifest great, positive outcomes on a local and global scale to create and support a paradigm shift in our relationship with the earth and ourselves. With natural habitats becoming increasingly fragmented and reduced, plant, insect and animal species’ survival and well-being are at threat.  As our planet becomes more urbanized, there is more of a need to establish and support green spaces for the health benefits they provide us and to help conserve and regenerate biodiversity. As global citizens, there are many actions we can participate in to help improve the state of biological diversity while supporting our own wellness needs. One small way to accomplish this is through gardening!

Humans are part of nature and working for the well being of the whole of nature that we are part of makes sense for our own benefit. When we can see the whole/nature as part of ourselves, then we can achieve true well being.

With this in mind, the biodiverse wellness garden model was created. It focuses on designing and creating a garden that is supportive, regenerative and healing to humans and biodiversity. Instead of viewing biodiversity and human wellness as separate, this type of garden offers an enriching, holistic approach to supporting both wildlife and human wellness.

A customized, comprehensive expert garden plan is available from biodiversewellnessgardens.com. These garden plans are custom designed to meet your vision, needs and budget. This service also designs biodiverse wellness gardens for specific uses: (i.e., children’s gardens, meditation gardens, enabling gardens (designed for all ages and abilities, horticultural therapy). Also available is teaching our clients how to take care of their gardens for long term enjoyment. Our key goal is to offer a service that designs a garden, which both humans and biodiversity will enjoy! Please see the “Contact” tab section to connect with us to manifest your own garden sanctuary.

“Gardens are not created or made, they unfold, spiraling open like the silk petals of an evening primrose flower to reveal the ground plot of the mind and heart of the gardener and the good earth.” –  Wendy Johnson
